July open Call for Papers – use your weekend to submit some talk proposals!

Posted on 2018-07-20 by Rodrigo Urubatan

Every now and then I remember a work mate from long ago asking how I was able to speech in many events in Brasil, and my answer was as simple as: “When they open the call for papers, I go there and ask if I can talk in the event, sometimes they say Yes”

And this is the only secret!

Of course, every time you give a speech you improve, every time you write a proposal you write it better, but the first part is trying!

I’m not really an expert, but I have already written many proposals and participated in many CFPs as evaluator, so if you want some help finishing your proposal, please contact me through the comments form or through email and I’ll be glad to help,

But directly to the point, here is a small list of the currently open call for papers that I’m aware of:

Ruby Events

  • Keep Ruby Weird – CFP open until August 27
  • RubyConf 2018 – CFP open util July 31

Other Great events Events

  • ThunderPlains 2018 (web and mobile Javascript focused event) – CFP open util July 31
  • LeanAgile US 2019 – CFP open until October 01
  • European Testing Conference – CFP open until August 19

Papers will undergo two review cycles. After the first round of review, a submission will receive either a Revise Resubmit or a Reject notification (along with the reviews themselves). Authors of papers designated Revise Resubmit will have two weeks to revise their paper in response to the reviewers comments. Authors will need to allocate time for possible revisions during the period between June h and July 10, 2017. Revised papers must be re-submitted via the PCS system by 11:59 PM PDT on July 10, 2017. Note that an invitation to Revise Resubmit is not a guarantee of acceptance–the revision will be re-reviewed as the basis for the final decision. This is similar to a journal process, except that it is limited to a single revision with a strict deadline.
